چکیده
Organic cages were identified as highly potent affinity materials for the tracing of γ-butyrolactone. The selectivity over ethanol and water is based on the interior functional groups which allow preferential hydrogen bonding to the target analyte.

Adsorption of proline amino acid on the surface of fullerene (C20) and boron nitride cage (B12N12): A comprehensive DFT study
In this study, the performance of fullerene (C20) and boron nitride cage (B12N12) as a sensing material for detection of proline was evaluated by density functional theory. For this purpose, the structures of proline, C20, B12N12 and the derived products from the proline adsorption on the surface of nanostructures were optimized geometrically. Then, IR and Frontier molecular orbital calculation...
متن کاملPotent affinity material for tracing acetone and related analytes based on molecular recognition by halogen bonds.
Affinity materials based on halogen bonds turned out to be a powerful tool for the molecular recognition of acetone or related carbonyl compounds in the presence of ubiquitous protic molecules. The superior selectivity and sensitivity were found by the gravimetric detection of volatile organic compounds by quartz crystal microbalances.
متن کاملApplication of Homochiral Alkylated Organic Cages as Chiral Stationary Phases for Molecular Separations by Capillary Gas Chromatography.
Molecular organic cage compounds have attracted considerable attention due to their potential applications in gas storage, catalysis, chemical sensing, molecular separations, etc. In this study, a homochiral pentyl cage compound was synthesized from a condensation reaction of (S,S)-1,2-pentyl-1,2-diaminoethane and 1,3,5-triformylbenzene. The imine-linked pentyl cage diluted with a polysiloxane ...
متن کاملHNO Detection by Nanosized B12N12 Cage: A DFT/TDDFT Study
The interaction of a nitrosyl hydride (HNO) molecule with B12N12 nanocage was explored by means of density functional calculations. It was found that HNO prefers to be adsorbing on a boron atom of the cage with adsorption energy of -0.65 eV. This adsorption process significantly shifts the HOMO-LUMO gap (Eg) of the cage to lower energies, thereby reducing Eg of the cage from 6.84 to 2.45 eV. Ti...
متن کاملDiamondoids and DNA Nanotechnologies
Diamondoids are cage-like saturated hydrocarbons consisting of fused cyclohexane rings. The Diamondoids family of compounds is one of the best candidates for molecular building blocks (MBBs) in nanotechnology to construct organic nanostructures compared to other MBBs known so far. The challenge is to find a route for self-assembly of these cage hydrocarbons and their applications in the bottom-...
